Cool Mother's Day Gift Ideas

To all you Baby Daddies out there who may be in search of the perfect gift this year - let me be of service.  Mother's Day is right around the corner - Sunday, May 9, 2010.  Without a single shred of ulterior motive, allow me to share some super cool mother's day gift ideas with you:

1) A necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs
There are many a cool mama necklaces on the market, but  Lisa Leonard rocks the house.  My first pick (for your mom, of course) would be the  Family Tree necklace.  It comes with a fresh water pearl and the names of your family hand stamped around a whimsical tree design.  Love this!

2) Sugarboo Designs
Basically any thing you got from Sugarboo Designs would score you big points with your mama (or baby mama).  One super popular Sugarboo Designs item would be the photobox.  It's about 20" x 20" and can hold a 4" x 4" photo of your choice.  You can pick these up at your local baby boutique (like Baby Coco in Austin, for example) or online at Catching Fireflies for around $250.  Personally, I think I would use this quote on my photbox: i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart) I am never without it (any where i go you go, my dear...) by e.e.cummings.  My other favorite Sugarboo Designs product is the "2 Heads Are Better Than 1" art print.  How cool would that be to put in the twins' room?

3) A Custom Silhouette from Le Papier Studio
How awesome is this "you + me = tons of babies" pillow by Le Papier Studio?  Even better, how awesome would it be if a silhouette of me only consisted of one chin?  I'm totally digging the pillows and wall art in this store.  There's even an overlapping sibling wall decal that I must get for the twins.

4) Etsy Favorites
If you really want to guarantee that you get something your loverly lady will adore, check out her "favorites" section on her Etsy web page.  Here's something I added to my 'favorites' today: A Bright Sunny Day print by farouche.  This would look awesome in your mom's upstairs bathroom by the game room, don't you think?  Maybe with this shower curtain from Anthropologie...mmmm.....

5) B&N
As per usual, your mother would always, always appreciate a Barnes & Nobles gift card accompanied by some Godiva chocolate.  You can never go wrong with B&N.

Whatever you decide to get for your mother, remember this: your mother endured 42 weeks and 3 days then later 38 weeks and 2 days of heart burn, crazy hormones, tossing her cookies, cankles, crazy dreams about giving birth to dogs, hemorrhoids, and strech marks that led up to 28 hours of hard labor in order to bring you into the world.

And you are soooooo worth it.

Screenprinting Attempts - Crash and Burn, Baby.

Any screen printers out there?

After watching a tra-zillon YouTube videos and reading a ri-dang-diculous number of tutorials (including this awesome one here by another Etsy mama), I decided to try my hand at it.  No luck yet.

Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?  Burn time too long?  Emulsion not thick enough?  Transparency not opaque enough?

I am so eager to figure this out despite the fact that I may have accidently burned my eyes out this evening.

Here are pics of my first and second attempts.  Hit me with your best shot.
